Nominated!

My site was nominated for Best Hobby Blog!

Fellow birder and blogger Mon@rch was kind and thoughtful enough to nominate Bill of the Birds for a Blogger's Choice Award. I'm so flattered, I'm flummoxed!

In case you get a wild hair and feel like voting for BOTB, or any other worthy blog (see nominations for Mon@rch's blog and Zick's, too) you can do so by clicking on the banner above or by leading yourself astray here. You must log in as a member of Blogger's Choice to vote, but, trust me, it's painless.

I DO NOT believe in buying votes--this is America after all, where all elections are free and fair. (But if you DO vote for me I will come and fill your bird feeders every day for a year).

Of course I don't expect to win in the Best Hobby Blog category (the leader currently has 471 votes and I have but 2, one of which in mine, the other, Mon@rch's!), but I've already got the participation ribbon--a smart looking banner button (see above) to stick on the BOTB navigation column (already there thanks to Katherine K. our Wonderful Wizardress of the Web).

Nonetheless, I am preparing my acceptance speech for the November awards ceremony PostieCon in Las Vegas. My speech starts out like this....

"I was born altricial on a cold March night in an Iowa cornfield..."

Wooohooo... now you have 8 votes and are on page 11 of 10,000. :c) I'll just plan on holding off on my next feeder cleaning until you can mapquest your way to northwest GA! Hey, isn't this how politicians get elected? Let's hear it for grass root efforts!

I have 16 feeders. When will you be passing through Minnesota? You're going to need a semi and a commercial drivers license!

Dear Voters:

I'd LOVE to start filling the feeders right away, but we'll have to wait for the votes to be tallied in Florida. That can take a while, as we've seen.

Even so, I thank you and America thanks you.

I did my duty and voted.
Your last line made me spit Coke all over my screen. Thanks, Bill.

BOTB--glad to see your remark about Florida. When you said--"this is America where all elections are free and fair" I thought you might have been suffering from brain relapse, or some such affliction, wherein one forgets past elections.
Oh, I did vote for you (and Julie and Mon@rch) and I don't even have bird feeders!

My votes are in! I think you deserve recognition for one of the best HUMOR blogs, too!

I'm straight south on 77 on your feeder route.
