"High Desert Winter is a painting that incorporates two of my favorite subjects--quails and snow scenes. A quick desert storm has caught a pair of Gambel’s quails. Capturing the light, the cast shadows, and the color of the birds in a desert setting were the challenges of this painting presented."
Joe Garcia earned a fine art degree at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He is a disciplined artist, applying paint to paper on a daily basis. He travels to refuges and wilderness areas frequently, collecting photographic reference for his bird and animal paintings. In 1993, Quail Unlimited commissioned Joe to paint a trio of quail for the California First of State Upland Game Bird Stamp. He has been included in the Leigh Yawkey Woodson “Birds in Art” exhibition and the Society of Animal Artists exhibit.
A limited edition of 300 prints has been created in a horizontal format. The actual image size is 14" x 10", the matted size is 18" x 14", and the framed sized is approximately 20" x 16". Each print is signed and numbered by the artist. The full-color reproduction is printed on a neutral pH, acid-free paper.
