"As an artist and a parrot owner, I just had to paint Carolina parakeets. When I learned that there were recorded sightings of flocks here in Lancaster County before 1850, my fascination increased. My cousin, who recently passed away well into her 90s, was an active member of the Manheim Historical Society. She recalled hearing stories as a child about "when the parrots came." My mission here was to give this beautiful extinct bird life again as a painting. I wish that I could do more."
