    Bad Weather Binocular Cover

    by Dan Mauro

To keep water and snow from getting on your binocular lenses, try this easy-to-make binocular cover. Cut off the bottom two inches or so of a plastic container -- motor oil bottles work very well. Make sure that the container you use is large enough to slide over the top of your binoculars like a cap. And, if you use an oil bottle bottom, make sure all the oil is thoroughly cleaned out of the piece you will be using. After cutting the bottle, check to see how well it fits and make necessary adjustments in its size. Once you have a cover that fits, staple a short length of string to the cover. Tie the other end onto your binoculars or strap, and voilá! An all-weather cover for your binoculars.
