Ant Catcher for Hummingbird Feeders

by Alita Wilson

To make an ant catcher for your hummingbird feeder, use the top or body of an old ballpoint pen (whichever length suits the feeder). Put this on the hanging wire, then on top of that add the cap from a plastic soda bottle or any little lid topside down, first punching a hole in the center.

Next, fill the lid with water, making sure it is level with the top.

Then simply hang the feeder and you have an ant-proof feeder. Ants crawling down the feeder's hanger are stymied by the moat of water.
