Comments: Exposure: 1/30 sec., ISO 400, 30x (20x scope times 1.5x "Crop factor" - equivalent to a 1500mm lens) This fawn is literally 55 yards from my back door. I grabbed the first scope I found, slapped the D1 and 50mm lens on it, and set the tripod in the driveway. The light was not great, so I shot a lot of frames and deleted quite a few. That's the beauty of digital cameras. All photos were taken by holding steady and squeezing off the shots in rapid sequences of 3 or 4 frames. I think that firmly holding the camera helps to absorb the vibrations of the mirror slap.
