Team Notes

Participants: Eric Hynes, Turk Duddy, Linda Woodard, Kathleen Kelly, Kristina MacCormick, Frank Paul, Naomi & Jim Honeth, Rita Moore, Julie Krasne, Kate Wilcox

Weather: Cloudy & cold in am, clear & warm in pm

Location: Maine Audubon Gilsland Farm Sanctuary North Meadow

Time At Location: 13.5 hrs.

Eric started things off before 5:00 am with a rail that flushed when he arrived at the site. Unfortunately, he didn't get a good enough look at it to determine which one it was, unidentified species are not counted. We finished at 6:15 pm with 61 species plus the unidentified rail. The morning was cloudy & cold but it warmed up in the afternoon & the winds that had been forecasted didn't materialize, so it was quite nice. This also resulted in more raptor movement. We ended up with 8 species. Sparrows made a good showing as usual with 6 species. There were 7 species of geese & ducks including Green-winged Teal & American Wigeon. Shorebird numbers were not very high but a Wilson's Snipe put on a nice show, flying over us & taking a couple of turns around the field before landing out in the middle of the meadow. As usual, the resident Wild Turkeys refused to participate & boycotted the event.
