Team Notes

Participants: One human and two ungulates

Weather: 15 degrees C at start, clear, but showers arriving at 10:22

Location: The Frog Pond at Oasi del Farfa, Montopoli di Sabina RI Italy

Time At Location: 07:05 to 11:05 (4 hours)

Purple Heron, a rare migrant in this Oasi, was headed for tropical Africa; I had first seen it here yesterday, and was not surprised by its distant appearance in a tree (see photo) It was also the first recording of a male Red-footed Falcon, though I recorded an immature in this Oasi early in June of this year

I owe a debt of gratitude to the horses! (see photo). Without their industrious consumption of all vegetation, I could not have observed the frog pond from a safe distance. By 'safe' I mean far enough away not to disturb the moorhens nor the Little Grebe that was found here yesterday and may have heard heard calling again today. Indeed I saw again here a few days later
