Notes:
This was a perfect opportunity to promote the new Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge. Representatives from our agencies & organizations we able to introduce non-birders and novices to the fun sport of birding. Donuts & coffee, along with pears from the tree down the hill from our circle, kept participants well fueled.

Anecdotes:
This was the first annual Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge Big Sit. Five agencies/organizations participated: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Friends of Hackmatack NWR McHenry County Conservation District Illinois Department of Natural Resources McHenry County Audubon We anticipate that more waterfowl will be passing through as several species were missing including gadwal, scaup, and others.
