Team Notes

Participants: Up to 20 participated throughout the day for varying short periods, team captain was on hand entire 12.5hrs. of Sit

Weather: Mostly sunny, few scattered high clouds, occasional slight breeze

Location: Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve, a Boise, Idaho city park

Time At Location: Length of Sit, 12.5hrs. 0630-1900 MDT

For most visitors this was their first time at a Sit, many knew each other so there was a bit of a gabfest at times as long-time birders renewed ties and helped look for birds. Also had several new birders helping out and learning and much telling of local birding rules, habits, lore and a general educating info being passed on to the newbies. Hopefully all had a good time.

About 1300, when there was a good flock (pun intended) of folks on site. One of our local birding couples dropped by with a tremendous treat. They brought some lunch. Dan and Melissa C. had earlier home-smoked some ribs (Dan's own recipe- slightly sweet) and box of home-made chocolate frosted chocolate cupcakes. Delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all there at the time and by others who came by later as a generous package of leftovers was left. Team Capt. R L asked about the the recipe's origins because of the sweetness in the BBQ sauce, Memphis, KC, TX (?) and was told it was Dan's own, including the rub. Asked how he liked his ribs R L replied NC, W. GA style, Dan K. sniffed about the vinegar-mustard combo himself preferring the sweeter style Dan and Melissa had made. A pleasant regional rivalry with an excellent lunch treat to accompany the day's birding. 10,000 thanks Dan and Melissa for the lunch treat, Corrine helping with the early set-up, Bob P. for returning to help with removing said set-up and all the local birders who came by and participated.
