Team Notes

Participants: Lisa & Rob Fanning, Patrick Belardo, Chris Monahan, David Bernstein, Alan Mart, Eleanor Swanson, Dave Saunders, Eileen Gibney, Jason Desenivich, Marissa Mizeski, Chris & Paula Williams, Carolyn Gulick, Carole Hughes, TImothy A Brown

Weather: Temps mostly in the mid 60's - winds NNE - overcast and raining by 1pm

Location: Sandy Hook, NJ - Hawkwatch Platform

Time At Location: 8 hours 40 minutes

Notes:
7AM - 2:25PM; Timothy A Brown sat from 4:30-5:45PM Rains came around 1pm, getting heavier by 2PM, then heavy again by 5:45. 7 different species of Raptors - including: 9 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 1 Harrier Multiple Osprey 3 Cooper's Hawks 2 Merlin 1 Kestrel 5 Peregrine Falcons (including 1 that sat in a tree for hours)

Anecdotes:
1 Peregrine Falcon chased another, clutching a blackbird, right up to the platform. The bird dropped the blackbird, and it was caught again (unclear whether by the one who dropped it or the other bird)- and an almost Raven-like GROAN was let out by one of the birds - This all happened within FEET of the observation platform! Despite our efforts, no PIGEONS were seen - however, two were sitting atop the old Sandy Hook Bird Observatory building, and seen on the way out... THANKS GUYS 🙁
