Travis is the name of one lucky pair of Leica Trinovid 8×42 binoculars being passed from hand to hand across the Americas on a “big year” quest to see as many bird species as possible. The adventure began on April 7, 2013 in Miami, Florida, and since then Travis has also birded in Texas, California, Ohio, Maine, North Dakota, Virginia, and Alaska, racking up an impressive list of 419 bird species!
This week Travis is adding some northern Colorado birds to his list with the aid of 21 young birders at the American Birding Association’s Camp Colorado. Running from July 21-27, this camp is held in Estes Park, bordering the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. The campers are enjoying intense birding and educational programs with professional ornithologists and tour leaders, field guide authors, and fellow young birders.
The campers will take turns carrying the Traveling Trinovid and will be sharing their daily discoveries and highlights on the official Traveling Trinovid blog (travelingtrinovid.com). See the latest »
