Mystery Bill #1
Although this species is usually found in the U.S. only from South Texas to South Florida, most birders recognize it because of its enormous and distinctive bill. Hint: Another distinguishing feature of this bird is its color.
Answer: Roseate spoonbill. In addition to its uniquely shaped bill, adult roseate spoonbills are pink-ranging from pale to hot-over much of their body. It’s hard to mistake this bird for anything else.
