Can You Identify These Wrens? Test Your Knowledge!

Carolina wren

Mystery Wren #1

Our largest eastern wren, this bird has a bold white eyebrow line that helps set it apart visually from our other wrens. When perched or foraging, it often holds its tail cocked upward. They seem to love nesting near humans: Nests have been found inside garages, in old shoes and empty cans, and even in clothespin bags hanging on well-used clotheslines. Clue: These wrens are found in the Carolinas and throughout the southeastern United States, and are expanding their range northward.

Answer: Carolina wren.
